If a company such as Abdi Design, known for exquisitely designed car interiors and its commitment to high-end detailing, contacted WebGx the first time, it was obvious it wouldn’t be a regular project. Their goal was ambitious to bring the tactile appeal and quality of the physical interiors to a web-based experience that reflects the same quality of luxury, confidence, trust, and a unique appeal.
Abdi Design has already made an impact in specific automotive circles, drawing customers who are looking for quality, practicality and timeless style for their interiors. But despite their successes offline, their online presence did not match up to. Their website was outdated and did not have the style of luxury and the technological foundation needed to accommodate an ever-growing catalog of custom items and configurations.
The idea wasn’t to just change the look of a car, but to redefine how people interact with the interiors of cars on the internet.
The first part of our trip was to dive into Abdi Design’s world. Abdi Design. We visited their office, sat down with the crafters who make their upholstery and then sat in with their executive team to understand the philosophy of their brand. Every stitch or surface, and every shape of their product told the story of their brand — and our mission was to translate this into the digital realm.
What we saw was that Abdi Design was a brand with a reputation for more than just luxury. Abdi Design was about experience. It’s about the aroma of leather as you enter a custom-designed interior, the silky smoothness of hand-stretched panels, the experience of combining performance and style.
The attention to sensory details was the guiding principle of our UX/UI design. The website wasn’t just supposed to be stunning; it needed to feel like Abdi Design.
We were able to quickly identify several problems that required solving:
Old Design Language The website of the past was lacking emotional and depth. Its design didn’t convey the luxurious, hand-crafted look in the rooms.
A limited selection of products: browsing was slow, with no filters and no way to browse design options through material, maker or model.
A poor mobile experience: for a customer who is constantly moving, the mobile experience was confusing and painfully slow.
There was no storytelling layer: Abdi’s most important value -the art of craftsmanship was hidden under generic product descriptions. The craftsmanship was not visible.
Backend Bottlenecks The catalog expanded and their needs grew, so did their requirement for more flexibility with regards to content, e-commerce agility, and more simple updates. Their platform was not able to keep up.
The plan wasn’t to build an online site. It was to create an online showroom.
We knew the audience of Abdi Design car enthusiasts with high net worth and automotive professionals, collectors — who demand excellence and polish in each interaction. Our development and design strategy focused on creating an online environment that allows users to explore Abdi’s best products with confidence and delight.
The design was a celebration of the subtlety and elegance. We opted for neutral tones metallic blacks and brushed silvers and subtle tan accents to evoke that of the insides Abdi was famous for. The transitions were smooth and the interactions were minimal but purposeful, giving each page an air of calm and curated.
Typography was a blend of modern and classic and sophisticated serif headlines juxtaposed with minimalist body fonts. White space was a key element of the story which allowed the images and other elements to breathe. We treated every product as an icon.
Photography was pushed to the next level. We directed brand new product shots that were centered around the textures of stitching, leather grains on an automobile — creating an emotional response that was previously only experienced in the human body.
The foundation for the brand new site was its flexibility. Abdi Design needed a site that could expand by adding new materials, vehicles designs, styles and collections without having to alter code.
We designed the new platform based on WordPress using a WooCommerce engine built specifically for us that allows Abdi’s team within the company to manage:
We also added an “Build Your Interior” experience with a guiding tool that lets users choose their vehicle model, select the trim options, play around with materials, and even request quotations — a huge improvement in the user’s engagement.
The aesthetics of the site were not as important if users could not find the website or interact with it effortlessly. We focused on the performance issue and SEO since day one.
Our developers incorporated lazy loading of images, scripts that were compressed and also introduced a powerful media delivery system (CDN) to provide lightning-fast global access. Each and every page was designed to perform optimally particularly for mobile devices.
Instead of just enhancing the pages of our products, we designed informative content that was of high quality. The topics ranged from “Choosing the Right Interior for Your Classic Car” to “Genuine vs. Synthetic Leather — What Should You Know?”. We have implemented organized data (schema) for our products FAQs, blog posts, greatly improving their visibility.
Within the first 90 days of its launch, Abdi Design ranked on the first page for key phrases like “custom car interiors Australia,” “luxury car upholstery,” and “bespoke leather car seats.”
With more than 70% of people accessing the internet via mobile devices It wasn’t just an option, it was the basis. We designed a new user experience for mobile:

Abdi Design’s evolution didn’t end with the launch, and neither did we.
The numbers are a testament to the effectiveness of our work.
However, more than just metrics, the most important thing was the way that Abdi Design’s web presence today shows the superiority of their physical work.
After the launch, WebGx continued working closely with Abdi Design through our maintenance and optimization service. We implemented monthly audits in order to monitor usability trends and seasonal pushes to products, and algorithm changes.
We also ran A/B testing to test the form to request quotes, Newsletter sign-ups, the quote request form, and on product page CTAs. Simple changes — like placing trust badges closer to CTA buttons, or altering the colors for swatches of material could have significant effects on conversion rates.
Security protocols were maintained through regular plugin updates, SSL renewal, firewall protection, and compliance with privacy under GDPR and regional regulations.
